The UEFA EURO 2008 is the largest event ever hosted by the city of Klagenfurt. Shortly after its official opening, the new Worthersee Stadium will already make its mark as the venue of one of the greatest events in the world of football.

UEFA EURO 2008 will be held in Austria and Switzerland. From June 7 to 29, the best European teams will fight for the prestigious title of European Football Champion. There will be 31 games in eight state-of-the-art stadiums. In addition to Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna, Klagenfurt is the fourth, proud host city in Austria. The host cities in Switzerland are Zurich, Geneva, Bern and Basel. The opening match will be played in Basel, the final in Vienna.

The sheer size of this tournament is illustrated by some facts and figures: Each of the 31 matches will be watched by about 150 million (!) people world-wide on TV; the expected figures are: more than 7 billion TV viewers and more than 25 million Internet users.
