THE HAGUE: Pakistan’s foreign minister says international efforts to stabilize Afghanistan must be based on ‘non-interference’ and respect for the country’s sovereignty.
Speaking at Tuesday’s international conference on Afghanistan in The Hague, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan remains committed to fighting terror that is spilling from its lawless western regions into Afghanistan.

Taliban insurgents based in western Pakistan are blamed for a recent upsurge of violence in southern Afghanistan as well as launching attacks in Pakistan itself.

The Taliban in Pakistan claimed responsibility Tuesday for a deadly attack against a police academy in the country’s east.

Qureshi insisted international efforts to stabilize Afghanistan must respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
