It’s time that we have been fooled by the Segway, perhaps standing on the platform is monotonous. Think it’s still better, here check out this one-person device that’s as easy as standing on the platform itself, with the only difference being that a Segway doesn’t hover in the air or use fuel. But this crazy, helicopter-like thing, whatever it is, though called the VertiPod, is basically just that.
The VertiPod is like a one-passenger helicopter turned upside-down, that’s apt enough to steer you at 40 miles per hour, in thick air. Powered by a 440-cubic-centimeter engine, it runs on gasoline or ethanol and is activated with a pull-start, like a lawnmower. To get it hovering, stand on a platform built around it with back support and controls at waist level, and steer the thing around by leaning in one direction or another – wholly at your own risk though. The comfortably crazy DIY kit will be sold for $10,000, there is no word on when you could buy it yet, but I believe the futuristic aircraft could certainly spark a transportation revolution.
