The daughter of Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor, her uncles are producer Boney Kapoor, actor Sanjay Kapoor and studio owner Sandeep Marwah. She has a sister, Rhea and a brother, Harshwardhana.


Kapoor studied in Arya Vidya Mandir and then enrolled in the United World College of East Asia from where she majored in Theater Arts and Chinese History. She later graduated from Bombay University with Political Science and Economics as her majors. She is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and English. She has received training in classical and Latin dance forms.


Career: Before starting her career off as an actress, Kapoor worked as an assistant under Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and assisted him during the making of his film, Black (2005). She made her debut alongside newcomer Ranbir Kapoor in Bhansali's Saawariya (2007), which failed to do well at the box office. Her performance was opened to average response by critics.
