Sling Media Inc., has announced that it is in the works of showing the new SlingPlayer for BlackBerry along with a new HD SlingBox at the Consumer Electronics Show 2008 that kicks off on Monday.
Sling Media, the same company that has developed the well-known SlingBox, will demonstrate the SlingPlayer Mobile on a BlackBerry Pearl 8120, which will be out to the general public by Q3 of 2008. Sling plans to make available its service for watching and programming TV remotely via the handset that incorporates both 3G and Wi-Fi technology.
SlingPlayer for BlackBerry and the new HD SlingBox

SlingPlayer’s Mobile Application is already available on Windows Mobile, Palm OS, and Symbian OS devices. Now with the incorporation of the BlackBerry client, support will be offered to a huge amount of regularly used mobile operating systems.
The San Mateo, California-based company has already produced a SlingPlayer client for Windows Mobile, Palm OS, and Symbian OS. With the addition of a BlackBerry client, the majority of commonly-used mobile operating systems will be supported. According to company reps, the application will cost the same as it is for the rest of the mobile client - US $29.99 and will be available in stores in later 2008. All versions will include a 30 day free trial.
The SlingBox PRO HD, which has the capacity of streaming out 1080i video in real time will also be announced at the forthcoming CES event. This is an upgraded version of the device that brings an in-built ATSC/QAM digital tuner, allowing the picking up of HD broadcasts without any other devices necessary. The latest updated device will be priced at US $399.99.
