Hercules has announced the ePlug, a new Ethernet extender that helps deliver internet access to any room in a house that has an electrical socket. The Hercules ePlug is available as both a single unit and dual pack, and offers 85Mbps or 200Mbps bandwidths and one Ethernet 10/100/1000 port. The ePlug 200 model comes with power-saving technology that lowers the adapter’s consumption by 50 percent when in standby mode. Both models can be used when gaming online, sending e-mails, sharing files, or simply accessing the internet for recreational or business purposes. When plugging the device in the ePlug uses the existing electrical wiring to provide broadband (cable/DSL) access throughout the home. The Adapter also helps protect the user’s information by keeping the network within the home, and includes its own password and pre-secured network.

Additional features provide a pairing button for adding other ePlug adapters, and a web interface for monitoring the Powerline Communications Network, checking transfer speeds and reseting passwords. The ePlug 200 Duo and 85 Duo will be available in late July, and priced at $150 for the 200 and $100 for the 85.
