World's Largest Chair....( You Want That )

This Duncan Phyfe model is often overlooked in the Mighty Chair Conflict. It's 19 feet tall, and made of real mahogany. It stands in what was no doubt a nicer neighborhood when it was built in 1958, southeast of the center of Washington DC.

The chair was created by the Virginia-based Bassett Furniture company for Curtis Brothers Furniture, specifically to teach Thomasville, NC a lesson about big chairs (someone can always build a bigger chair).

This chair learned the same lesson soon enough.

Bassett constructed a 20 ft. mission style chair in 2002 to appear at its stores across the country.
