When MTV India first started, Malaika was one of their most prominent VJ's. She rose from this to an interviewer for MTV India, becoming the most prominent and hot non-movie, non-model female in urban India. Malaika was born to a Malayalee mother and a Punjabi father. Her father Anil Arora worked in the merchant navy .Her mother's name is Joyce Polycarp.
