Guidance from The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him)
Hadrat Salman Al-Farisi (r.a.) reported:
“The Messenger of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) said,
"If a man takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself thoroughly,
uses oil and perfume which is available in the house, sets forth for
the masjid, does not (forcibly) sit between two persons, offers the
prayer that is prescribed for him and listens to the Imam silently,
his sins between this Friday and the previous Friday will be forgiven.''
Related by Al-Bukhari. Hadith quoted from Riyad-us-Saliheen (Hadith # 828)
Commentary:
If a believer fulfills the above listed conditions, all his (minor) sins between the past Friday and this Friday will be forgiven by Allah Subhanah. As regards one’s major sins, only the act of ‘taubah’ or sincere repentance forgives one’s major sins.
