'Point Break' Remake Delivers Extreme Action in First Trailer
Point Break is a 1991 American action crime film, Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. are developing a remake of the film, written by Kurt Wimmer, and directed by Ericson Core. The film stars are Luke Bracey, Ray Winstone, and Édgar RamÃrez, The film is set for a December 25, 2015 release.
The first trailer for the upcoming Point Break remake is here, jam-packed with the requisite surf, swindling, and skydiving. Like the intro states, "There are some who do not fear death."
Luke Bracey steps into the role of undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah — the part originated by Keanu Reeves. Bodhi, the outlaw leader first portrayed by the late Patrick Swayze, is now played by Édgar RamÃrez.
The updated version has several callbacks to the 1991 movie directed by Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), including the trailer’s opening skydiving sequence. But there are also notable points of departure from the first film. For one, Bodhi has gotten more sophisticated than just knocking off banks and scaring the bejesus out of innocent bystanders. Now he’s a modern-day Robin Hood, taking from super-rich corporations and, at least in one case, giving to the poor.
