Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSD Line 2014
Samsung going to launch the new series of mSATA SSDs with capacities ranging from 120GB up to 1TB. The Samsung 840 mSATA SSDs will be the first Samsung mSATA SSDs to be available in the consumer market.
The Samsung 840 EVO 1TB will be capable of up to 540MB/s sequential reads and 520MB/s sequential writes along with random read/random write performance of up to 98,000/90,000 IOPS respectively. Being a Samsung 840 EVO SSD, it will also be capable of taking advantage of RAPID mode, could see performance up to the 1GB/s read/write range.
In addition, the Samsung 840 EVO mSATA will also feature support for TCG Opal / IEEE 1667, allowing users to take advantage of hardware based encryption via TCG Opal certified encryption management software or Windows’ eDrive (Encrypted Hard Drive), and support for DevSleep, which can reduce idle power consumption down to under 5mW (0.005W) or lower.
The Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSDs are expected to be available globally sometime this month, although no mention of pricing has been announced.
