Dell Wasabi PZ310 Handheld Printer

Post by Ahmad » Feb 11, 2009 Views: 1001

Dell Wasabi PZ310 Handheld Printer: The 7-ounce devise design is a companion to digital cameras that support PictBridge over USB as well as most Bluetooth-equipped devices, letting users print away from home. Dell uses a relatively new ZINK (zero-ink) technology borrowed from Polaroid that relies on a layer in the paper itself to print an image without having to use either an inkjet tank or a laser toner cartridge.

The printer can produce a full color, 2x3-inch image in about a minute and has an adhesive back that lets users print out labels. The hardware takes most of the work away from Bluetooth devices, letting any device that can initiate a common Bluetooth file transfer send the photos while the Wasabi handles the tasks that would otherwise need specific Bluetooth printing support.

Dell says the PZ310 is available today and will start out at a $99 sale price that will eventually creep back to $149. The company explicitly warns that the iPhone isn't currently compatible but suggests this may change in the future.
