I tore a page from my life
And put it up for display
Little did I know
Words would connive
Show no concern
And take a riotous turn

Passive no more
Now they rule the land
Restless, they rush on
Making a whole new world
Breaking all norms
Calling in unseen storms

They have the power, alas
On my thoughts they ravenously feed
They wage a war awhile
I meekly follow, and they lead
Words have taken over
The game is lost, I do concede

This wasn't how
The piece meant to be
I had the Words, then
Now, they had me
They haggled
And they swapped
Till I was broke
And crying for mercy

Play no more with Words , I say
Surely it's a strange world to be in
When Words pull your strings
And take you for a mighty spin
This wasn't a bad dream
