Seven years after Hollywood's biggest power couple first started playing rough on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are officially engaged. Pitt's manager (whose iPhone is probably a melted puddle of white plastic and circuitry by now) confirmed the news Friday after reports of the engagement were first leaked by the couple's jeweler.
"Yes, it's confirmed," Cynthia Pett-Dante, Pitt's manager, said in a statement to the press. "It is a promise for the future, and their kids are very happy. There's no date set at this time."
Beverly Hills jeweler to the stars Robert Procop first broke the news to The Hollywood Reporter that a ring spied earlier this week on Jolie's left ring finger during a private visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is indeed an engagement ring, designed in collaboration with Pitt. The actor's manager has also confirmed Pitt's work on the design.
According to a press release issued by Procop, the dazzler was a year in the making, and features an elongated tablet-shaped diamond and a mounting comprising "a galaxy of smaller stones which are graduated in size and faceted to match."
Procop has a decade-long relationship with the actress, who helped to design the jeweler's "Style of Jolie" collection. So it would seem that despite the couple's long standing reluctance to say "I Do", we can expect a royal Hollywood wedding sometime in the future. Of course, odds are it won't be anytime soon. After all, you can't manufacture a small army of flower girl and ring bearer uniforms over night.
