

It was designed by Snøhetta, winner of the invitational architectural design competition held by the Saudi authorities.
The structure has a construction budget of $300,000,000 and until completion in 2011, will be used to promote cultural development in the kingdom. How? It has multiple facilities like a world-class library with a café-like atmosphere and digital access to information and connectivity to knowledge centers around the world.


The foundation stone was put by King Abdullah on May 20th, 2008 and the building, which will have over 50,000 sq. mts. of floor space and will become one of the greatest buildings in the world.
Although it looks like a bunch of stones, it’s quite amazing. For sure this is the fact that makes it so unique.
