Rocker Bret Michaels remains in an intensive care unit after being diagnosed with a massive brain hemorrhage.
He was rushed to hospital late Thursday night with a severe headache and doctors wasted little time diagnosing him with the brain bleed.
Michaels, 47 had only left the hospital a few days earlier after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.
According to doctors, they do not yet know the source of the brain bleed and they continue to run tests on the former Poison frontman.
They have also stated that it is possible that Michaels could fully recover from the brain bleed.
“The long-term prognosis from subarachnoid hemorrhage depends mostly on how poor the patient’s condition was on arrival,†said Dr. Wendy Wright, an assistant professor of neurology and neurosurgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. “We do know that Mr. Michaels’ condition is still being described as critical; that is an automatic label for anyone who is diagnosed with subarachnoid hemorrhage, due to the severe, life-threatening nature of this disease. However, the fact that he is conscious does suggest a better prognosis than if he were comatose.
