Most Wanted Computer Games 2010
Here it is a compilation of most wanted computer games for the new generation.
The Orange Box (Rs. 999)
How can we not recommend a box that has Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal? Every PC owner on the planet should posses a copy of this game - if he doesn't already that is. And yeah we know the Orange Box was released on consoles as well but besides being graphically superior the PC version has been supported really well since launch date. Team Fortress 2 has been receiving steady (FREE) updates ever since it was launched and even today you have tons of people playing the game online.
F.E.A.R. (Rs. 299)
With F.E.A.R. developer Monolith managed to traverse the fine line between survival horror and all out balls to the wall game play offering players a creepy yet extremely visceral and intense first person experience. Even to date it remains one of the most cathartic shooters on the planet. It’s a shame the sequel didn't live up to expectations.
Crysis and Crysis Warhead (Rs. 999 and Rs. 799)
Crysis and its expansion Warhead will make your graphic card their b**ch. While not the official tag of the game this slogan seems pretty appropriate considering both games in all their maxed out glory have the capacity to bring your rig to its knees even today. But we're not recommending these games strictly for their graphical fidelity alone; it’s the tropical setting and non linear solution to every enemy encounter that had us hooked for days on end.
Left 4 Dead 2 (Rs. 699)
Every one's dead. The world’s been overrun by zombies. Only four people survive (including you of course). What do you do? You could sit in a corner and cry like a little girl or pick up the nearest weapon and blast those zombies to oblivion with three of your friends.
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion GOTY Edition (Rs. 1299)
Of all the RPGs we've played in recent times none have been as expansive and as open ended as Bethesda's Oblivion. Create your own character through a myriad of options and explore the world of Tamriel for days on end without even touching the main quest. And thanks to the plethora of game changing user mods out there, the game manages to look good even till date.

Counter-Strike
Our PC games list wouldn't be complete without including the most popular multiplayer game in India now would it? You can either go in for the Counter Strike Anthology pack (Rs. 499) or the Source MP pack (Rs. 699) that contains Counter Strike Source, Day of Defeat Source and Half Life 2 Deathmatch.
Far Cry (Rs. 299)
Think Crysis but with dated visuals and no Nano suit. What I liked most about Far Cry was the freedom it allowed you approach any given situation with discretion (stealth) or complete aggression. Making matters even better was the hard as nails AI that made life hell for you especially at higher difficulty settings, something that’s sadly not seen in a lot of shooters today.
Dawn of War II (Rs. 699)
RTS games haven't been receiving a lot of love in recent times. Maybe they've been watered down to please the console crowd or maybe they just suck. Either way it's going to be a while till StarCarft 2 comes out. Till then we definitely suggest you give Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II a shot because it not only managed to breathe some much needed life into the RTS genre but tweaked it to make it accessible to new comers as well.
Dragon Age Origins (Rs. 999)
If Oblivion seems a tad overbearing for you we suggest going in for a more linear experience in the form of DA: Origins. Made by the same guys who brought you Mass Effect, DA is a nod to old school party based RPGs laced with an engaging plot, gratifying gameplay and tons of wit and charm synonymous with all their games. Even though this game is a multiplatform title we suggest you ignore all the other versions because they not only look inferior by miles but don't allow you party control as well, a feature that’s only available on the PC version.
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (Rs. 499)
Long before the world could actually play a game that had the John Woo name attached to it (Stranglehold) all we had was Remedy's slick slow mo fuelled action title Max Payne. While we loved the original game to bits the sequel made by Rockstar took everything and improved it tenfold be it visuals, gameplay or plot. Like Oblivion, MP2 is very well supported by the mod community and you have a huge selection to choose from, some of which change the very game itself.
