Petrohue is an indigenous word that means smoking place, most likely due to the steam that rises from the waterfall of Petrohue. The river Petrohue origin in the Lake Todos los Santos and it flows into the sea in the Reloncavi's Estuary. During a big part of its course, it runs through the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park.
