A cenote is a kind of cave or hole which is flooded. They are natural pools of groundwater. May be open to the sky, half-open or be entirely underground.
The cenotes often have turquoise water. In Yucatan, there are over 3000. Today they are used for tourism. The main activities are swimming and diving. Usually has a wealth of fauna and flora. The fauna consists mainly of fish.
