2007’s Top 5 Technology Products that Revolutionized the World

The year 2007 has been a great year so far when it comes to the fast-paced advances in the tech world. We are indeed lucky to be right here, right now, because to date technology has advanced so rapidly, that it has almost become impossible to keep up with the latest in this field. Here is our list of revolutionary technology that has had teh power to forever change the world.

Apple iPhone: Before this phone was launched, it was touted to change the way people saw traditional mobile phones, and it sure did, because the iPhone really revolutionized communication and now sets the standard for competing mobile companies. A touch screen interface, visual voice mail, email, Web browsing, and not to forget iPod features as well, all make this a great buy not just for yourself but also for that really special someone in your life. Although it has not officially been launched in India, everyone wants to get their hands on this phone which has literally become 2007’s ‘Product of the Year’. It does carry a hefty price tag and companies like LG, HTC and Sony Ericsson offer cheaper variants of a touch screen functionality; but is totally worth if you are the type of person who loves to splurge.

iRobot’s Roomba: Ever envisioned robots taking over Earth? In Will Smith’s iRobot movie maybe, complete with emotions and all. But in the real world and more particularly in 2007, busy people who are always tied to their job no longer have to hire help to clean up. For now we have Roomba, a robot that can clean your house and that too when you are away! The latest generation has an infra red sensor that prevents it from bumping into obstacles like pillars, coffee tables or whatever it is that lies on ground level in your house. You must also let Roomba know the room-size simply because it needs to know. Apparently, the designer of this revolutionary product bases his philosophy on the fact that robots should be like insects, equipped with simple control mechanisms and tuned to their environments.

Rock Band Video Game: This music video game developed by Harmonix Music Systems has become a must have for any party today. Available on the Xbox 360 and PS3 console platforms, Rock Band allows players to perform in virtual bands using three different instrument-based peripherals- a guitar, microphone and drum set, taking realism in video games to another level altogether. Further, players can also interact through both online and offline multiplayer capabilities. An amazing choice of music available via download, realistic peripherals and extremely intuitive interface make this game our top choice in the music video game category.

Apple iMac Desktops: Apple’s Mac desktops have been prevalent in the media field for a long time. But now the new and slim line of iMac desktop computers that feature 20- and 24-inch widescreen displays certainly revolutionize the way people see things. Firstly, the new iMac is all about minimalism, a pre-requisite for anybody’s desk top today. The iMac comes with an ultra-thin aluminum keyboard, an in-built iSight video camera and preloaded with iLife ’08 software suite. With the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors and up to 4GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, this machine is a must-have for those in the fields of photography, graphic designing and animation. It’s power-efficient as well.

FlyTech Dragonfly: This little fellow is the world’s first radio-controlled flying device. Featuring an ultra-light, dual-wing design and ‘high-flex’, crash-resistant structure, this insect is certainly an aeronautical marvel of another kind! Unlike those remote-controlled planes that have now become so famous, the FlyTech Dragonfly actually flaps its wings like a real insect and its eyes light in alerting the user of the insect’s status, meaning that it’s LED eyes either blink, pulse or shine brightly. Moreover, it comes programmed for two skill levels- beginner and advanced.
