Most Beautiful Waterfall Around The World

A waterfall is a place where flowing water rapidly drops in elevation as it flows over a steep region or a cliff. Waterfalls are considered to be one of the most beautiful phenomena in nature. Some waterfalls are used to generate hydro-electric power.

Angel Falls is a waterfall in Venezuela. It is the world's highest waterfall, with a height of 979 m and a plunge of 807 m. The waterfall drops over the edge of the Auyantepui mountain in the Canaima National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Gran Sabana region of Bolivar State, Venezuela.

Huangguoshu Waterfall, also known as Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall, is one of the largest waterfalls in China and East Asia located on the Baihe River in Anshun, Guizhou Province. It is 77.8 m high and 101 m wide. The main waterfall is 67m high and 83.3 m wide.

The Water-Curtain Cave named "Shuiliandong" in Chinese is a 134 m long naturally formed cave located in the back of the waterfall. It allows visitors to not only view, but also hear and touch the waterfall. The Huangguoshu Waterfall is one of few waterfalls that can be viewed from above, below, front, back, left and right in the world. Here you can not only see it but also touch it and enjoy it.

Dettifoss Waterfall in Jokulsargljufur National Park of Northeast Iceland, not far from Myvatn. It is situated on the Jokulsa a Fjollum river, which flows from the Vatnajokull glacier and collects water from a large area in Northeast Iceland. The falls are 100 m wide and have a drop of 44 m down to the Jokulsargljufur canyon. It is the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of volume discharge, having an average water flow of 200 m3/s.

The Cascata delle Marmore is a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans. Its total height is 165 m, making it one of the tallest in Europe and the tallest man-made waterfall in the world. Of its 3 sections, the top one is the tallest, at 83 m .

It is located 7.7 km from Terni, a provincial capital of the Italian region of Umbria. Its source is a portion of the waters of the river Velino, after flowing through Piediluco lake near the community of Marmore. It pours into the valley below formed by the river Nera. Its flow is turned on and off according to a published schedule, to satisfy the needs of tourists and the power company alike. Tourists try to be there the moment the gates are opened to see the powerful rush of water.

Bridalveil Fall is one of the most prominent waterfalls in the Yosemite Valley in California, seen yearly by millions of visitors to Yosemite National Park. The Ahwahneechee tribe believed that Bridalveil Fall was home to a vengeful spirit named Pohono which guarded the entrance to the valley, and that those leaving the valley must not look directly into the waterfall lest they be cursed. They also believed that inhaling the mist of Bridalveil Fall would improve one’s chances of marriage.

When the wind blows briskly, the waterfall will appear to be falling sideways. During lesser water flow, the falls often don’t reach the ground. Because of this, the Ahwahneechee Native Americans called this waterfall Pohono, which means Spirit of the Puffing Wind.
