Jimmy Jump has once again made his mark, and this time it came on the world's grandest stage at the World Cup final between Spain and Netherlands in Johannesburg. After Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro brought the championship trophy out onto the field prior to the game, Jimmy Jump attempted to drape it in one of his trademark hats.
Unfortunately, he would fall just steps short of successfully achieving his objective, thanks to a stiff right arm from a quick acting security guard. Several other members of the on-field security team were on the scene seconds later and carried Jump off the field past the players, who were waiting in the tunnel at the time.
Spain would go on to raise the trophy at the end of the game after Andres Iniesta scored in extra time to give his country their first ever World Cup title. And thanks to a well-timed tackle, Iker Casillas was the first to raise the trophy that night, and not Jimmy Jump.
As for the tackle, surprisingly it was not the most devastating blow dealt on the pitch last night. That award belongs to Nigel De Jong for his kung-fu kick to the chest of Xabi Alonso.
