The Suzuki Alto is a kei car from Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor Corporation, introduced in 1979.

The main selling points include its low price and good fuel economy, the latest model being badged the Alto GL. It is powered by a 1.1 L (1061cc; 65in³), straight-3 engine making 62hp. Performance figures are modest: 0-100km/h (0–62 mph) in 16.3 seconds, and topping out at 150km/h (93mph).

The MK II Alto was sold in Europe as the Suzuki Alto SB308. It has a 796cc F8B engine with three straight cylinders and 6 valves, and is naturally aspirated. It has a four speed gearbox, putting out approximately 34hp. The F8B engine was the replacement for the F5A engine, and has the same straight three cylinders, although it comprisies of only 550cc, in order to fit Keicar restrictions.

The Suzuki Alto Works was fitted with a 660cc F6A engine and a turbocharger. It is available as a FWD or an AWD.

Other turbocharged models called the Alto RS-X and Alto RS-R were also sold.

The Suzuki Alto is built in India by Maruti Udyog. The Maruti 800, the Maruti Zen and the Maruti Alto are based on the 1986, 1994, and 2002 models of the Alto. All Indian models are only available with five doors.

The Suzuki Alto is also assembled in Pakistan by Pak Suzuki. The Mehran 800 and Alto 800 have been manufactured in Karachi since 1982, the former model being based on an older Suzuki Alto model. Seven different Suzuki vehicles are manufactured by PakSuzuki and most vehicles are available with CNG option. In 1992, a new plant was built at Port Mohammad Bin Qasim near Karachi.

In addition, the Korean-sourced Daewoo Tico was based on the 1982 Alto and was also sold by Mazda as the Carol.

I think suzuki mehran is much better than suzuki alto. If really want to get some thing which is worth your money then go for suzuki cultus. A model change can change every thing including the driving experience and the sitting experience. Car is much more comfortable from every respect. However if you insist for low budget cars then i guess suzuki mehran is the best.
