Samsung QX410-S02 Laptop DesignThere are plenty of laptops made of aluminum, but the QX410-S02 has one of the nicest implementations for a 14-inch laptop because of several characteristics: The aluminum has a brushed texture, which adds depth and interest to the overall design, and its gunmetal gray hue helps conceal fingerprints and smudge marks. It's comparable to the HP Envy 14-1210NR ($999.99 list, 4 stars) and Apple 13-inch (Thunderbolt) in that it's as solidly made, though the other two are clad completely in aluminum (the base of the QX410 is made of plastic). In contrast, the Asus U41JF-A1 and Gateway ID49C13u ($849.99 street, 4 stars) have aluminum tops but are susceptible to flex when pressure is applied. Despite a solidly constructed frame, the 5-pound QX410-S02 is only marginally heavier than the 4.7-pound Asus U41JF-A1 and 4.9-pound Gateway ID49C13u. It weighs the same as its predecessor, the QX410-J01 (5 lbs).
