Your first backup will take a while: our hard drive testbed took the better part of a 24-hour day to back up several hundred GB of data. Once you've done that, Rebit continues to automatically back up all changes as you make them. It will continue to do this as long as you have connectivity to the external drive or to a network share. Network backups, will of course be slower than a local external hard drive. Network storage is more likely to be secure, since a central NAS or server is less likely to be stolen or accessed by an outsider. There are two ways you can recover your data: file search or complete recovery. If you find you've misplaced a file or accidentally deleted it, you can simply browse the Rebit 5 drive (or shared drive) for that file and copy it back to your PC's hard drive using drag and drop. You can also mount any Rebit drive on another PC to transfer files, but since you'll have to install a Rebit backup browser app (to that other PC), that may be less convenient. But don't expect ShadowProtect's advanced ability to mount your backed up system as virtual machine on another PC.
