Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has been convicted on contempt of court charges by the Pakistan Supreme Court. Gilani now faces disqualification as Prime Minister. He will not face a prison term however.
The apex court summoned Gilani to appear before a seven-judge bench hearing a contempt of court case initiated against the Premier for refusing to act on orders to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari. He arrived at the court at around 9.45am IST, accompanied by a delegation of Ministers from his cabinet.
