I am always confused with mega pixels.I think You are mentioning DPI (Dots per inch)as points. My confusion is that" When I am printing a pasprot size photo which has taken with a 3MP camera and 7MP camera on same paper" i couldn't see any difference. Means look like Both are same. Megapixel defines the number if points the picture will have.
The higher the megapixels, the better the picture should look.
Also more details means better printing on paper
