Very Fair skin is skin that almost has no color. This skin type tends to have trouble finding foundation shades for them because their skin is fairer than most makeup companies go.
Fair skin is usually skin that always uses the lightest shade of makeup available in a makup line but doesn't normally need to go lighter than that.
Light skin will usually use the second lightest shade of makeup and tends to be the most common caucasian skin tone.
Light-medium skin tends to stay within the first 3 shades of a makeup companies makeups and is usually a caucasion and ethnic mix such as Italian and caucasian. They have just enough color to bump up their foundation but not enough to make them look non-caucasian.
Medium skin tone is usually tanned Caucasians, light-medium Hispanic or Latino skin, Italian skin tone with olive or anything that starts getting past the fourth darkest shades in foundations.
Med-dark are usually tanned Italian, Latino, Hispanic, etc. They start to get into darker makeup shades without getting into the deeper cocoa shades. Normally these skin tones have an olive or very warm undertone to them.
Dark is a deep cocoa or milk chocolate skin tone.
Very Dark is someone who's skin tone is so deep it looks like dark chocolate.
Now that you've picked your skin level. You need to pick your undertone.
