Almeida Fortress Portugal

Almeida is a common surname in the Portuguese language, namely in Portugal and Brazil. It was originally a toponym, derived from the town of Almeida (Beira Alta, Portugal). Almeida is a town in Almeida Municipality, Portugal. The fortress around the town guards an important cross-border road from Spain, and underwent several sieges.
