Earth Day - 2010 Celebration Of World unites
• Ethiopia:Let us start it with Ethiopia. In Addis Ababa, environmentally and socially responsible films and documentaries will be part of the events organized to mark the day. An event focusing on public awareness on climate change would also be held here in the capital. Earth Day 2010 will also mark the conclusion of the Green Generation Campaign, which is a commoner’s movement.
• Jamaica:
The Natural History Museum of Jamaica (NHMJ) will celebrate the 11th staging of the Earth Day, themed after ‘Biodiversity at Risk’. The museum will organize a school competition consisting of three categories-Essay, Poster and Photography components.
• Indonesia:
Hundreds of students, activists and business community representatives will attend the Earth Day and Year of Biodiversity 2010 commemorations event, organized by environmental NGO Telapak. It will take place Thursday at Serangan Island, some 15 kilometers south of Denpasar. Similar events are scheduled for Bali, but Serangan will be the center of the commemoration.
• Russia:
Airis Pro will organize the Russian Earth Day Eco Festival at Poklon Gora, Victory Park. The objectives include inculcation of environmental awareness among the youth of Russia, information about ecologically focused movements and organizations, raising public awareness and attracting new members. As part of the Festival activities, “direct actions†aquatic environment cleaning initiatives, terrain cleaning, art competitions will be organized.

• Georgetown University:
The Georgetown University, which recycled more than 134 tons of material this year, is marking the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22 with a variety of “green†events. There has been a 42 percent increase in recycling in Georgetown this year when compared to 2009. In the Car Barn’s student lounge, Georgetown Public Policy Institute will present the document titled “World Development Report 2010: Development and Climate Changeâ€. The climate change panel will run noon-1:30 p.m. The Office of University Information Services and the Office of the Senior Vice President’s Sustainability Initiative will organize a campus-wide electronic recycling drive.
• Central Michigan University:
At Warriner Mall, the Student Environmental Alliance will have its Earth Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. It is designed as a walkthrough, come-and-go styled event for participants. There will be several educational opportunities about Earth Day and the environment, and other activities. A solar panel display, a demonstration on wind energy and jewelry made from Michigan materials will be put on public display. Environmental Quality Industrial Services is one company attending.
• Texas State University:
Aquarena Center and the River Systems Institute at Texas State University – San Marcos will organize its 4th Annual Aquarena Earth Day Festival on Saturday April 24th, 2010 at the San Marcos Springs. Texas State University invites the San Marcos Community, Hays County, and Texas’25th Congressional District to join them for this growing festival. The program includes installation of recycling and green building displays, live entertainment, recreation opportunities, Glass Bottom Boat tours and Glass Bottom Kayak tours.
• University of Phoenix:
The University of Phoenix Southern California Campus will run a keynote presentation on Global Climate Change and “Green Practices†Panel Discussion. Here, EPA Specialist, Dr. Nabil Yacoub will provide his recommendations on the state of Global Climate Change. Furthermore, “Green Practices†Panel Discussion with area experts will shed a better light on how to reduce our carbon footprint.

• WorldFest:
The WorldFest 2010 Earth Day Festival – a solar-powered celebration of music, the environment, animals and humanity – will be held at the beautiful outdoor setting of Woodley Park in Lake Balboa, CA. The attendees will be welcomed by a combination of great music, empowering speakers, environmental, humanitarian and animal welfare non-profits, kids’ activities and a delicious food court make for an earth-friendly experience that is sure to be inspiring and enjoyable for all.
• Pikes Peak Earth Day 2010:
At Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Center, the Pikes Peak Earth Day celebrations will revolve around the theme “40 Years of Earth Day: ReVision • RePurpose • ReNewâ€. The event is open to public.
