Vonage and AT&T have announced that the patent dispute between the companies has been settled.
“Vonage and AT&T have entered into a definitive agreement to settle their patent dispute, the companies announced today. The companies had agreed in principle to a settlement on November 7,” said the statement.
AT&T had sued Vonage and filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Del. over patents relating to its Internet phone services. The lawsuit alleges that the defendant has violated nothing less than 12 of Nortel Networks’ patents relating to its Internet phone services, including click-to-call and the 911 and 411 services.
Under the terms of the settlement Vonage is expected to pay US$39 million to AT&T.
Earlier Vonage had settled Sprint Nextel Corp for infringing on 7 Sprint patents focusing on connecting and transmitting Internet phone calls. Court had ordered Vonage to pay $69.5 million for damages.
Recently Vonage also settled another patent dispute with Verizon, of $120 million.
