The return of the infamous archaeologist Indiana Jones in "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" took second place in 2008, having made $780 million.
Dreamworks had a winner with "Kung Fu Panda", the third highest-yielding film of the year and proof that animation has truly earned its place in the movie industry.
