What’s this? This may look like some strange, newly-discovered form of sea life, but it is actually just a blob of paint dropped into water. Artist Mark Mawson came up with the technique for a series of photographs he calls Aqueous.And the following “white vertical drop” is my favorite one in the series. It is such a simple and beautiful form.

Mark, who specializes in shooting underwater scenes and people, simply takes different kinds of paint and drops them into a tank before snapping the outcome with his camera and using a strobe to light up the odd splodges.
