Sania Mirza is an ace India tennis player who made her debut in April 2003. She became the first Indian women to be given a seeding in Grand Slam Tennis Tournament.

She recently won mixed doubles title, pairing with Mahesh Bhupati in the Australian Open 2009. She lost the finals of the Pattaya Open against Russia's Vera Zvonareva by 7-5, 6-1. Sania currently ranks 87th in the WTA.

Sania Mirza on Monday defeated her German opponent Anna-Lena Groenefeld in the first round of the Wimbledon ladies singles event. She won the three-set match 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 and made her way to the second round.

India’s top ranked woman tennis player Sania Mirza was eliminated from Wimbledon championship by Sorana Cirstea. Sorana Cirstea defeatedly Sania rather easily 4-6 4-6 in second round itself. 28th seeded Sorana Cirstea played a beautiful game against Sania and did not allow her to play her natural shots.

Hyderabadi lass Sania Mirza played mostly from the baseline but struggled to keep her booming strokes within the court. The inability to win points on serve added to the woes of the unseeded Indian against an opponent ranked as high as 27th in the world.
