Remembering The BAYWATCH BABES
Despite figuring in the record books as the most watched piece of TV (more than 1.1 billion viewers) and providing hope to thousands of bored,
onely people, evil studio bosses shut down the hour-long lifeguard saga on May 14, 2001 - just tragic!
The sexy lifeguard babes who made drowning such a pleasurable experience. From gorgeous Yasmine Bleeth to,
yes, Pamela Anderson, we remember the sun, the surf, the sand, the slow motion and that song!
Yasmine Bleeth
Yasmine's character, Caroline Holden, had the beach and the world swooning.
After Baywatch launched, People magazine named Bleeth in the 1995 list of 50 Most Beautiful People.
She was also FHM's darling from 1996 to 2001. Hugh Hefner almost ran out of envelopes as
he repeatedly tried to get the famous lifeguard to pose nude for Playboy.
Yasmine was introduced in the fifth season of the show as the sister of lifeguard Lt. Stephanie Holden.
Many remember the character for her constant fights with fellow lifeguard CJ Parker (Pamela Anderson) and
that episode with the shark, a boat's broken mast and memory loss (do the math please!).
Caroline eventually left lifeguard duty for a TV career and that was the end of Yasmine Bleeth.
But to the world's horror, Yasmine surfaced years later in a Malibu de-addiction programme to quit her cocaine habit.
'It was almost like falling in love. It became my boyfriend, my best friend, my family,' wrote the star about her addiction
Pamela Anderson
We all remember Casey Jean Parker! Strong, squeaky and sexy - just like everybody else.
Pamela Anderson changed a dozen last names during the decade-long Baywatch run
and is arguably the only star of the show who survived its end.
She was also one of the first to be hired directly by executive producer David Hasselhoff,
who interestingly shoved his own cash into Baywatch after it was axed by NBC right after the first season.
Erika Eleniak
She was in the show from the summer of 1989 to 1992, but sexy Shauni McClain
took nearly an entire season to overcome 'her fear of drowning people'.
Erika's character started off as a rookie lifeguard who tenses up during CPR and thinks twice about
getting the suit wet. However, Erika's character soon progresses to become one of the best lifeguards on the show.
Erika didn't survive too long after her exit in 1992. There was this role in Under Siege with Steven Seagal
aka Kung-fu Sasquatch and a couple of other movies which are not worth mentioning.
During her time on the show, the Playboy playmate fell in love with Billy Warlock, who played
Eddie Kramer (her boyfriend on Baywatch), but soon split.
Donna D'Errico
The Playmate of the month (September 1995) was mostly lost in the gaps between the other characters.
But Donna D'Errico did put the oomph back into emergency services!
Her career as a lifeguard lasted for over two years only to end in a marriage, five kids and a divorce!
Gena Lee Nolin
The usual pain in the A! Gena Lee Nolin's character, Neely Capshaw,
was so twisted and bent, it took three actresses to play her.
The first avatar was fired for drinking on duty (and performing CPR), the second was in a skiing accident and the third,
well, her file's missing! Gena Lee Nolin had a successful life after Baywatch and despite playing the show’s only recurring,
mainstream, negative character she was given her own show, Sheena - a mix of Tarzan, Africa, voodoo and blonde hair.
However, Sheena was axed in 2002 and Gena was recently embroiled in a sex tape scandal
Carmen Electra
Carmen Electra brought in the heavy dose of sex appeal. Many complain,
Baywatch turned into product-placement haven after Carmen's arrival on the show.
Carmen had already posed for Playboy before Baywatch and people on the show were
just waiting to have Leyland 'Lain' McKenzie come and save them (despite the slow-motion).
Carmen was on the show for a whole season (1997-9 and returned for
the 2003 TV movie (Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding, let's not go there!).
