HOW DID YOU LOSE YOUR KILOS? TRIED A DIET?
I didn’t lose weight by dieting. I eat everything as long as it is healthy. My cook uses very little oil and we avoid rich spices. When eating out we opt for tandoori food rather than gravies. If we are eating Chinese we ensure that we order for boiled rice instead of noodles. The idea is to make healthy eating a day-today practice for the whole family. Even my husband Rishi, who has grown up eating typically rich punjabi food, now prefers to go easy on oil and spices.
WHAT ABOUT WORKOUTS?
I do 45 minutes of brisk walking and 15 minutes of yoga every day, come what may. this is a rule that I have made a part of my life. Whether i have a late night or i have to travel. it doesn’t change. For me, good health is a package deal. It includes eating the right kind of food and exercising.
WHAT'S YOUR DAILY DIET?
I start the day with celery and apple juice or any other vegetable juice. This acts as a detox. breakfast consists of porridge and fruits. I limit my tea intake to just two cups a day with halfa- teaspoon of sugar in each. if i feel like having eggs then it has to be an omelette of egg-whites.
Lunch is vegetables with bajra or jowar bhakris (Farmers’ roti from western india, rich in protein). We totally avoid wheat flour. it tends to stick in the intestines. For the same reason we don’t eat maida. We go for wholewheat pasta that is now easily available in the market.
At teatime, I have a few nuts and later in the evening i treat myself to a bowl of soup. Dinner is over by 8 o’clock in the evening. I keep it light. Typically it is grilled fish and a vegetable. I avoid carbohydrates at night.
YOUR SKIN'S GLOWING TOO!
Thank you! it is not an outcome of fancy facials or beauty masks only but good food and exercise. What shows on the skin is what you put inside you. Exercising helps blood circulation and that works wonders for the skin. I did not switch to a healthier lifestyle to look good. If it is making me glow then it is one more reason to stick to this regime. You should try it too!
