She married Bobby Mukherjee, a high profile Mumbai Architect, last year amidst total secrecy. On June 10, 2007 Mahima gave birth to their first child: a girl, called Aryana. Bobby already has two children from a previous marriage.
What is your mantra for a healthy life?
I firmly believe that you are what you eat. I am a vegetarian and love fruits and wholegrains. What I don’t relish—thankfully— is fried food. The only ‘unhealthy’ thing I still eat is sweets. However, I control the portions. What exercise regimen do you follow? I believe discipline is very important in exercise. You have to be regular. My trainer, Satish Naidu, trains me for 45 minutes, thrice a week. I vary my workout with Power Yoga, cardio exercises, lifting weights and aerobics. This keeps the body fit and mind relaxed.
What typically is your diet?
My breakfast is toast with egg, or porridge with some nuts on the side, and 2 cups of tea. For lunch I eat vegetables, dal, curd, 2-3 rotis, some fruit followed by another cup of tea. I work out in the afternoon. My evening snack consists of wholewheat bread with baked beans, or a sandwich. Dinner is similar to lunch, only I restrict myself to one roti.
How did you deal with the post-pregnancy weight?
Post pregnancy my energy levels hit an all time low. I used to feel tired, cranky and unable to keep up with my little one. That’s when I called in Satish and started working out to up my energy levels. Weight loss happened as a side benefit.
What are your baby’s food habits?
No aerated drinks and canned juices for her. She has not tasted potato chips or chocolate either. I feed her fresh fruits, cereal, porridge, mashed veggies and khichdi. She loves to snack on murmura (puffed rice).
How do you de-stress?
I love to get a massage when I can. Actually, I can be in a spa all day long. Getting a good night’s sleep also relaxes me.
