Logitech has announced the launch of its official wheel of Gran Turismo called the Logitech Driving Force GT racing wheel. Designed especially for the PlayStation 3, the force GT wheel comes with a powerful force feedback, brake bias with 24-postiion real-time adjustment dial for on-the -fly control and even traction and damper settings.
To develop the latest racing wheel, Logitech has partnered with Polyphony Digital, Inc., the developer of the Gran Turismo series. It allows the driver to fine tune the car’s balance for the real racing experience. Players can now get accurate control over the car’s setup and enjoy the optimum performance level.

“We’re excited to be working with Polyphony Digital again to deliver a wheel that will satisfy the needs of car enthusiasts, like me, around the world. People who love the striking realism of the Gran Turismo racing series will discover that Logitech’s latest wheel will allow them to experience the cars the way they were meant to be driven. With the Logitech Driving Force GT, you’re not playing games anymore – you’re racing!” mentioned Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming.
With the force feedback wheel, Gran Turismo gamers can try their hands-on understeer, oversteer and traction loss with frightening precision. It comes with a large 11-inch wheel with rubber-overmould rim for easy control and comfort. The full-size gas and brake pedals provide accurate throttle and brake response.
“The Gran Turismo series has always been designed for racing enthusiasts,” stated Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital. “The Driving Force GT racing wheel was designed to perfection by our team, specifically for the next generation of Gran Turismo.”
Racers have been offered an opportunity to either use the sequential stick shift or the wheel-mounted paddles to race through gears. They can even turn the wheel 90 degrees lock-to-lock for navigating hairpin turns. A horn button is also fitted in the center of the wheel. They can enjoy smooth and realistic racing with anti-backlash gearing that eliminates the sluggishness in the steering response.
The Gran Turismo drivers can alert other cars as they speed, by using the authentic sounds of the car being driven. Online gamers can simply press the horn button to tease other players when they are approaching fast.
This game supports Gran Turismo3 and Gran Turismo4 on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system. Expected to roll out in the US and Europe by early March, the Logitech Driving Force GT racing wheel comes with a price tag of $149.99 (approx. Rs. 6,000).
