Keira Knightley's career is replete with blockbuster successes, underground hits and everything in between. Keira Knightley's never been shy of showing some skin in a movie, but if you ask her, it was all totally warranted and boosted the storyline. The rising star, who can be seen in all of her corseted glory in 'The Duchess,' opened up to Glamour magazine about nudity (hers and others), living the luxury life and why she doesn't talk about her romances. On Being Famous: I know it sounds ridiculous, but I like disappearing. I don't actually have that thing of having to go, me, me, me, me.
On Being Comfortable With Nudity: I certainly wouldn't do it if I wasn't. I detest unnecessary nudity and what it says about women in society. I think you see a lot of films where, Oh, yes, the woman gets her t--s out again and runs around naked for no reason. And you kind of go, Ugh, do we have to? [Laughs.]
On Dealing With Public Perception: It was very difficult when I was 16, 17, 18, 19. I felt that I had a lot to prove. It's obvious to say you can’t please everybody and there are always going to be people who are going to say, I just don't like you. There's nothing I can do about that. I'm aware, probably much more aware than my harshest critic, of what my own problems are with my acting ability. I'm very, very critical of myself, and I don't ever want to not be.
On Whether She Reads Her Reviews: No. Nothing, nothing, nothing. Unless I'm unfortunate enough to catch something by accident, which happens, and it's always a bad review. Always, it's amazing. I will be sitting in a cafe, and I will open a random paper right to the page of the review. And then you're sucked in and go home and never want to go out again.
