Kate Elizabeth Winslet was born October 5, 1975, in Reading, England. With acting deep-rooted into her genes, it was no wonder Kate herself would also turn to the dramatic arts. Kate Winslet starred in Titanic, Sense and Sensibility and a number of other British period pieces. She has also been nominated for an Academy Award an impressive number times.
Kate Winslet bares all for the December 2008 issue of Vanity Fair. She appears on the cover sitting and staring at the camera with only a white coat on and inside the magazine she channels the Deneuve character from Belle de Hour, where a housewife has a second job as a daytime prostitute. Pictures of her are taken among others by the famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz.
The actress who earned five Oscar nominations and became the youngest for the predicate, also gives a personal interview to the magazine, telling all from struggling with her weight as a teenager to living the live with her director husband Sam Mendes and to reuniting with her "Titanic" co-star Leonardo DiCaprio in "Revolutionary Road". Winslet also takes on simple things like the what's behind her flawless skin, and being checked out by the moms at her kids' school.
One of the excerpts from the interview includes when she discusses on bridging herself from a fat girl to a famous artist. "I never had a desire to be famous," Winslet said. "I was fat. I didn't know any fat famous actresses. I just did not see myself in that world at all, and I'm being very sincere. You know, once a fat kid, always a fat kid."
"Revolutionary Road" which will hit the theaters on December 26, sees her getting one-on-one with DiCaprio under the direction of Mendes. On this she said, "Leo and I, you know, are sort of kindred spirits. We're cut from the same cloth."
