When we heard about another Priyanka starrer, most of us had already packed our bags - disillusioned with what Drona and Kidnap had to offer and angry at scripts close to rubbish!
But then along came Dostana`s plotline, bringing the light back to this winter of dreary films and raising a few eyebrows.
The story is based in Miami, USA, and that by itself, promises exquisite locales and heavenly beach babes.
And now for the plot. Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan) and Kunal (John Abraham) have just arrived in a foreign country and they are soon shown the door when they try to rent an apartment.
Now this is no ordinary apartment because the lady who owns the place, also happens to be Neha`s (Priyanka Chopra) aunt and she does not want the two men taking her niece to be part of the lease.
Then the duo hit upon a wonderful (actually, stupid) idea.
They convince the landlady they`re gay - having no interest in her niece whatsoever.
What could follow is situational humour based on Sameer and Kunal`s predicament and their attempts to woo Neha!
Things heat up further when Neha`s boss Abhimanyu (Bobby Deol), enters the zone and attempts his hand at impressing Neha.
Dostana has a plot similar to the Hollywood flick, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, where two straight guys pretend to be gay to avail domestic partner benefits. That movie created a tiny ripple at the US Box Office and went out into the night without much in earnings.
Its Bollywood twin stars three bankable stars (we`re being kind to John), and Karan Johar as producer (coincidence?). Let`s all hope it does alright at the Box Office because if it doesn`t, this could be Abhishek`s second disaster after Drona.
