India completed a 1-0 series victory over India as the second Test in Mohali petered out into a draw.

The captains shook hands an hour after tea with England on 64-1. The series victory for India comes on the back of a 2-0 win over Australia, and continues their excellent run of results under the captaincy of Mahendra Dhoni.

For England, it is another defeat following the 2-1 loss to South Africa this summer.

Alistair Cook was the only England wicket to fall after they were set 403 to win. The left-hander was caught by VVS Laxman at slip of Ishant Sharma.

The under-pressure Ian Bell will have been relieved to reach an unbeaten 24 at the close with Michael Vaughan and Owais Shah eyeing his spot in the side.

After more fog delayed the start, Yuvraj Singh launched another assault on England's attack as India moved towards a declaration.

Yuvraj, who famously hit six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad during last year's Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa, had resumed unbeaten on 39 but quickly made his intentions clear by accelerating past opener Gautam Gambhir to reach his half-century in just 57 balls.

But after reaching that landmark Yuvraj really let loose, flicking James Anderson from outside off-stump over midwicket for his first six of the day.

He followed that by hitting sixes off successive balls against Broad, the first one flying from outside off-stump down the ground and the next he drove over extra cover on one knee.

Gambhir, unbeaten on 44 overnight after 50 overs at the crease, also broke out of his defensive shell after bringing up his half-century, advancing down the wicket to hit Anderson over extra cover for four.

Centuries beckoned for both left-handers, but Yuvraj was run out for 86 after a direct hit from Ian Bell.

Gambhir also fell agonisingly short of a hundred in both innings when he miscued an attempted cut to Bell in the gully off Graeme Swann. Captain Mahendra Dhoni, who had been caught and bowled for a duck by Monty Panesar, declared the innings when Gambhir was out for 97.
