A seasonal rhinitis resulting from an allergic reaction to pollen is commonly known as “hay fever”.
Latest study suggests that Onion hold the key to beating hay fever. According to Dutch researchers onion skins contain quercetin, which is a potent natural anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory. It prevent from hay fever.
British Onion Producers’ Association says that, “onions contain three times more quercetin as kale, the next-richest source and 10 times as much as broccoli”.
Remember hay fever can not spread from one person to another but the symptoms of this fever can pass from person to person and this hay fever is the biggest cause of sick leave in many countries.
Onions are a cool-season crop that requires a long growing season to produce high quality bulbs and good yields. Medium to light loam soils with good drainage are best suited for onion production. Onions have limited root systems so irrigation is essential, especially in dry years. Weed control is also critical and difficult, and on most farms is the most limiting factor in onion production.
Onions bulb according to day length and only long-day and intermediate-day types are recommended for New England.
i was a little more looking at different types of onion in the pos though this one is informative effort from ujala.
Onion is much used in sub-continental dishes and is protection to some diseases. The term "hey fever" is new for me.
