Google Accidentally Disables Gmail Accounts To Combat Spammers

If your Gmail account has not been opening in the last few days, don’t worry because the issue is from Google’s side. Search engine giant Google has expressed regret over disabling a few Gmail accounts in defense of conflicting spammers.

Google has officially apologized to its users to restricting their Gmail accounts accessed via the company’s official www.google.com web site.

“I understand that some of you have had a frustrating experience with your accounts being inappropriately disabled. Our team is aware of the problem, and our engineers are investigating this matter,” said Google in its website.

This issue apparently began on December 5, 2007 when a number of Gmail users could not open their account on found that their mail could not reach to its destination, bouncing back.

Some Gmail users even posted written complains on the Gmail Forum, presenting the problem to Google’s staff. Google went as far as to thank these users for bringing this problem up before the Google engineer team.

In fact, the employees who monitor the Gmail Forum came to know what the ‘real’ problem was and then on December 6, they managed to sort it out. In the Gmail Guide, they declared that things would soon be back to normal.
The Google trouble shooting team explained the situation by saying, “It was the result of an effort by Google to bar such users from the Gmail service. Users whose accounts were disabled by mistake should have regained access to them by that point, without losing any of their account data.”

Google praised the timely performance of its employees saying, “Our engineers work diligently to combat spammers …. With this in mind, our engineers have built a monitoring system to minimize the impact that some of you ended up feeling.”

Although Google does not know the actual number of Gmail users who went through this problem, it is known for sure that only a few users faced the problem.
