Fanged 'Dracula' fish find in stream

A TINY fish with vampire-like fangs has been discovered by zoologists.

And it has been named Danionella DRACULA after its long pointy teeth.

The transparent fish — only 17mm long — was found in a stream in northern Burma.

It is part of the cypriniform group of carp-like creatures but has been officially declared a new species.

Dr Ralf Britz, a zoology expert from London’s Natural History Museum, described the find as exceptional.

He said: “This fish is one of the most extraordinary vertebrates discovered in the last few decades.

“The teeth that Danionella dracula has are very surprising because none of the other 3,700 species in the cypriniform group have any teeth in their jaws.

“In fact, they lost their jaw teeth about 50 million years ago.”
