The Fanaway is a ceiling fan with a light fixture that, when not in operation, conceals the scimitar-shaped blades within a circular hub. The number of blades can be varied from 2 to 6 as can the shape and style of the housing. The housing can include brushes which will help to clean dust from the blades when they are retracted after use. It is also possible to have a housing which does not include a light fixture. Fanaway recently won a Next Big Thing Award in Australia.
