The latest Skype 4.0 Beta 1 incorporates support for large image display and also has the ability to auto-detect and save system settings for audio/video hardware that is connected for the first time. With the new interface desktop-based users can video chat in full-screen resolution by first calling the friend and then clicking on the “Add Video” option. In one corner users will find interesting functions such as call phones, directory, shop to name a few. Additionally, users can move and resize video screens, and also carry on an IM conversation simultaneously during a video chat.
With all these enhancements, sadly, the company has given a miss to the very impressive multi-party video chat feature.
Meanwhile, the peer-to-peer Internet telephony network company has mentioned that the forthcoming Beta versions will include automatic redial, call transfer, video presentations, integration with Outlook contacts, money transfer, and other such exciting features.
Skype is apparently terming the latest 4.0 Beta 1 as its biggest and most ambitious release in its nearly five-year history.
