Geeta Basra is an Indian actress who originally hails from Portsmouth in the south of England, but now resides in Mumbai. She was born to emigrant Punjabi parents in Portsmouth, UK. Even before she began to walk, Geeta Basra learnt to use the videocassette recorder and put a video in to watch films. She had done her first performance on stage when she was only two years old. She is an ardent fan of Madhuri Dixit for many years now and performed on Madhuri numbers many times.Since her childhood, she used to watch Madhuri Starrer films. and tried to mimic her.Madhuri Dixit influenced Geeta Basra’s talent as an actress and dancer. When Main ‘Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon’ was being made Geeta Basra was dying to play that role but could not make her dream come true since she was still at Portsmouth, UK.The lead role in the movie was played by the stunning beauty Antara Mali. Bollywood is Geeta Basra’s dream ever since she started to dream. She always dreamt of becoming a glittering star like Madhuri Dixit in the skies of Bollywood.Geeta Basra moved to Mumbai when she was seventeen and joined the acting school as any other Bollywood aspirant. Mallika had taken the country by storm with her latest movie "Khawhsih". Before her forray into movies, she had done some modelling assignments initially, the advertisment of Santro with Shah Rukh Khan being one.
"Jeena Sirf Merre Liye" was where we saw her in a very brief role. Talking future wise, Mallika stresses on her wish to do "only honest cinema", which would range from roles like that of Nargis in "Mother India" to Tabu's in "Chandni Bar". Well, after her character portrayal in "Khahwish", its going to be a little difficult to visualize her struggling in a tattered state of affairs, but then this is the world of make-belive, where we wait doggedly to see our favourite stars dazzle or die...week after week.. And we hope Mallika no matter what your 'Khwahish' be, it sees the light of the day anyway.
